Citizen Radio

Episode #218 The L.A. Times publishes Allison's response to their lackadaisical approach to Fox News's propaganda machine. You can read the full rebuttal here: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/opinionla/la-oew-kilkenny-fox-news-20101229,0,4734743.story

Bill Ayers visits the show (and fights through some nasty laryngitis) to recap 2010.

Jamie gives advice to people who'd like to go vegan, but are having a hard time because their significant other refuses to go veg.

Other topics: Dennis Kucinich's district may be in danger, Loud Sauce (the alternative to defacing billboards,) and private mercenaries, funded by anonymous governments, fight 'pirates.'

Also, it's the return of the Republican Baby!

Episode #217 Time magazine editor-at-large, Belinda Luscombe's, pitiful explanation of austerity, and how CNN missed a golden opportunity to show citizens how austerity affects their lives with the NYC blizzard. Allison reads a list of unbelievable Republican quotes that showcase how the rich really feel about the poor and unemployed. In the process, Jamie coins an amazing new phrase.

Episode #215 President Obama signed the DADT repeal act despite the best efforts from the GOP to derail the entire effort. It's another installment of Fridays with Bill Ayers! The theme this week is how to cope with your conservative family, and on the note, Allison offers some helpful myth-busting factoids concerning unions. Also, Jamie debuts some exciting Chanukah songs, and John Knefel shares a heartwarming story about true love.

Episode #214 Congressional Republicans finally decided it'd be better if we didn't all perish in an nuclear holocaust. The FCC voted to end the Internet as you know it, and there is a looming $2 trillion debt crisis just on the horizon. Finally, Jamie reports on some crazy religious stories.

Episode #213 DADT has finally been repealed, no thanks to the embarrassment named John McCain who secured his passage in the "bigots" chapter of the nation's history books.

Sadly, the Senate killed the Dream Act, thereby punishing millions of innocent children.

Allison and Jamie explain how the Senate's tax cut plan hurts poor people (those making $20,000/yr and less will experience a tax hike,) and rewards the rich. This, and other compromises that hurt the poor, have been done in the spirit of bipartisanship, which is actually a racket designed to help corporate interests and punish the lower classes.

Finally, Jamie explains why children of negligent parents shouldn't be punished.

Episode #212 Allison talks about Bernie Sander's audit of the Federal Reserve, which is beginning to help us understand where our tax dollars went during the bailouts.

According to recent polls, the Afghanistan war is now as unpopular as the Iraq War was during the Bush years, and people are actually more concerned about ending the war than they are about fixing the deficit. Not that you'd know any of this from watching the news, of course.

It's the triumphant return of "What The Fuck Did They Just Do?" This week's topics: Mortgages, credit scores, and the NRA.

Jamie has some choice words for the ex-vegans out there, and Pandagon's Amanda Marcotte stops by to talk abot sexism, blogging, feminism, and atheism. Be sure to read all of Amanda's writing at Pandagon.net, and check out her book, "It's a Jungle Out There: The Feminist Survival Guide to Politically Inhospitable Environments."

It's time for the premier of Fridays With Bill, a weekly segment in which Bill Ayers gives his thoughts about a timely topic. This week, Bill talks about the London student tuition protests, and the supposed lack of passion from U.S. students.

Citizen Radio revisits the Bush-Blair memos (Correction: Allison accidentally called this the "Bush-Brown" memos.) which revealed US-UK leaders planned to target Al Jazeera's headquarters.

Then, a brief discussion about Richard Holbrooke's horrible legacy, including backing military dictatorships and illegal military invasions.

Jamie shares another insane tasering story, plus a disturbing/adorable story about cows.

The largest prison strike in US history is happening right now - not that you'd ever know that from watching the news. Allison reads the prisoners' demands, which include educational opportunities and access to visiting their families.

Episode #209 Audio of Glenn Beck attacking Citizen Radio on his radio show. Marvel at how it takes more than one person to giggle like a twelve-year-old girl.

BREAKING NEWS: Fox News is bias! A new report from Media Matters shows the network’s Washington managing editor, Bill Sammon, sent around a memo instructing his staff not to the use the phrase “public option” because it was testing too well. http://allisonkilkenny.com/2010/12/fox-boss-instructed-staff-not-to-use-phrase-public-option-because-it-tested-too-well/

The Democrats and President Obama have caved (again) to Republican pressure, and have extended tax cuts for rich people.
