Episode #47

SPECIAL ANNOUNCMENT: Starting in October (October 10 and 24,) Citizen Radio will broadcast special WEEKEND EDITIONS! It's the same show – just more of it – and really, what more could you wish for? More politics! More comedy! More snark than you can shake a stick at! MORE!!

Thanks to all the fans who have listened to and supported the show since day one, and who make it their business to spread the good word about Citizen Radio to all of their apathetic hipster douche bag friends. You did it, kids!

If the special shows are received well on October 10 and 24, then Citizen Radio's weekend editions will become – brace yourselves – a permanent thing! So spread the word about Citizen Radio's October Weekend Bonanza!

On this week's Citizen Radio...

Jamie fights the swine flu! Or he gets a little dizzy from getting a major tattoo. It's one of the two. Tune in to find out which it is! (Hint: he doesn't have swine flu.)

Allison and Jamie talk all about tattoo culture, and how it's not just for murdering biker gangs anymore. Jamie took his latest tattoo like a champ (other than briefly fainting in a vegan restaurant.)

Next, Citizen Radio addresses the smear campaign against ACORN, the organization that helps people with low and moderate incomes find affordable housing, and registers poor people to vote.

Citizen Radio brings you the latest gossip from the amazing Values Voter conference where D.C.'s finest crazies gather to rant incoherently about gay people. Tom Coburn's chief of staff, Michael Schwartz, does not disappoint with a breathy explanation of why all pornography is homosexual. Seriously.

A US Census worker was hung in Kentucky, and the word "Fed" was scrawled across his body. Read about the story on Allison's blog: http://trueslant.com/allisonkilkenny/2009/09/24/discussion-of-dead-census-worker-highlights-right-wing-paranoia/. Citizen Radio explains how right-wing fear mongering leads to a culture of violence where Census workers get lynched.

Last, but certainly not least, Glenn Beck boils a frog to death on live television. Allison and Jamie talk about it.

Episode #46

Jamie barely fights through his sick stupor to bring political truth, Sonia Sotomayor's newest, important decision, Crazy FOX News, drunken firefighters, and Obama's dismissal of bloggers.

Sonia Sotomayor declares that corporations aren’t people. Go figure. Citizen Radio explains why this is awesome (and right). Next, Jamie explains why corporations are like Transformers (kind of).

Guess what, everyone? FOX News is still crazy. Citizen Radio discusses Journalism versus Whatever The Hell FOX Calls What It Does, and the 70,000 versus 1 Million claims during the tea bagger protests in D.C.

Strap in for a quick digression as Jamie takes us on a magical adventure through Jamie and Allison Origins, which is like X-Men Origins, except awesome and not an awful movie, and involves Jamie trying (and failing) to form a union at his old job, Allison failing a psychological evaluation for the Peace Corps, and a drunken firefighter.

Finally, did you know all blogs are fact-free, opinion-based wastes of time? President Obama thinks so! Here’s why he's wrong.

Episode #45

Citizen Radio recounts a first hand experience at one of those crazy town hall meetings (including an encounter with loud protesters, and an "Obama: Speak English NOW!" bumper sticker.)

Second up: a discussion about President Obama's healthcare speech. During the historical address before a joint session of Congress, Obama mentioned a certain healthcare executive, Wendell Potter, former guest of the show. Allison and Jamie revisit the Potter interview, and also discuss Joe Wilson’s anti-immigrant outburst.

Next, an interview with Trudy Lieberman, a 30-year veteran journalist who reports on health care and consumer issues. Lieberman is a contributing editor to the Columbia Journalism Review, taught at New York University and the journalism program at Columbia University, received numerous honors and awards, and is the author of five books, including the Consumer Reports Guide to Health Services For Seniors, which was named one of the best consumer health books for 2000 by Library Journal. Allison asks Lieberman to grade Obama's speech, and the media's coverage of the healthcare reform debate.

Episode #44

Special guest and comic John Knefel (http://comedyandpolitics.blogspot.com) joins the show to discuss healthcare, Buddhist jokes, Nazi comparisons, Inglorious Basterds, Obama's condescending behavior toward liberals, and how you're paying contractors $180 million a year to do shots out of each other's assholes.

Citizen Radio has a moment of silence for the public option now that Democrats have managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Next, John Knefel explains why he isn't a fan of Inglorious Basterds. Hint: it involves American bloodlust and torture.

The Republicans are comparing President Obama's speech to America's youth to Nazi indoctrination. Seriously. Citizen Radio explains why that comparison is slightly unfair.

John offers a few examples of President Obama's condescending behavior toward liberals. Stay tuned! It's a trifecta of awful. He also caps off the episode explaining his latest blog piece, "Human Experimentation Not Just For Nazis Anymore," all about American doctors being present during torture sessions.

Bottoms-up! Lastly, Citizen Radio discusses the latest contractor scandal and the now infamous photos featuring ArmorGroup employees' naked debauchery. Next week, Citizen Radio will have a review of the new Norman Finkelstein documentary, American Radical (http://www.americanradicalthefilm.com/.) The film premieres in Chicago at the Chicago Underground Film Festival September 17-29. Check the festival guide for show times at www.cuff.org.
